Knoxville just keeps on growing y’all and why we are excited we hope it still keeps that hometown feel.
On Tuesday (June 13th) community leaders held a ceremony for the groundbreaking of the $114 million Knoxville stadium at 400 E. Jackson Ave.
The ceremony was by invitation only and was held as the official start of construction for the new stadium.
The multiuse stadium will hold sports and entertainment right near the Old City. It will also feature baseball, soccer, festivals, concerts, and of course it will be the new home of the Tennessee Smokies baseball team.
The grand opening for the stadium is set for March in 2025.
Smokies baseball team owner, Randy Boyd said his wife and him have been wanting to bring the Smokies baseball team back to Knoxville since 2013 and they couldn’t be happier it is finally happening.
