The University of Tennessee Knoxville did not say exactly what the violation was, but Tony Vitello “acknowledged his mistake and accepted full responsibility.”
UT Knoxville suspended Coach Tony Vitello from this weekend’s upcoming baseball series. Coach Vitello and UTK says they are working with each other and the NCAA to address the violation.
Josh Elander is serving as acting head coach as of right now and UTK says the will provide an update Monday.
“We appreciate his cooperation in the process and his dedication to do right by the student-athletes in the Tennessee baseball program. NCAA bylaws prohibit additional comment or details. The University will continue to emphasize-to all staff-the imperative of leading with honesty and integrity,” UTK said.
