Cody Johnson is currently on his ‘Leather Tour’, but he had quite the experience on January 20th in California.
Johnson is one of mainstream country music’s most notable traditionalist.
Johnson was a former bull rider, so you’d think the man is made of steel.
Johnson was in the middle of a song when he noticed a little girl out in the crowd holding up a sign that said:
“I survived my bone marrow transplant to see CoJo. Your biggest fan.”
After reading the sign Johnson quietly sat his guitar down on the stage and took his cowboy hat off.
He then walks toward the front of the stage and heads toward the little girl.
Once Johnson gets to her he reaches down for a hug while his band just played music quietly in the back.
The crowd cheers and whistles as this very special moment continues.
Johnson give the little girl another big hug and whispers something into her ear and gives her his guitar pick.
After that Johnson walks back to the microphone and tries to gather himself while beating his fist across his heart, showing the audience that this really hit home for him.
“Y’all are going to have to give me a minute,” he told his audience. He was brought to tears by the strong young cancer survivor.
Johnson has two young daughters of his own, so we know that this moment was special for him.
After the show, another concert-goer found the little girl in the crowd and gave her his cowboy hat, which had previously been signed by Johnson himself.
