Zach Bryan is conflicted: super hyped that Tyler Childers‘ “In Your Love” is getting some country radio airplay – a first for Childers.
But Bryan’s also peeved at country radio for the fact that it’s the first time Tyler’s gotten even a sniff of airplay on country radio.
In a series of Tweets, Zach let his feelings on the subject be known.
“First ever’ is f*ckn insane, one of the best songwriters to ever do it.”
When the conversation with fans continued, he piled on.
“Imagine being radio (whoever the hell that is), hearing Shake the Frost and being like ‘no no let’s go with the Applebees song'” For those that don’t know, “Shake The Frost” is another Childers song.
“The Applebees Song,” that’s the #1 country hit by Walker Hayes from 2021. So when a fan said they agreed with Bryan but that he was “doing Walker dirty,” Bryan walked it back a bit.
“not insulting anyone! Meant it with humor not malice, different strokes different folks was just bent about the first ever on mainstream radio thing my bad.”
To give some added color as to why Zach is irritated, he, like Childers, has been a hit with critics and fans alike, selling out arenas – yet he’s only had two songs of his own on country radio, “Something In The Orange,” which made it to #20 on the Country Radio Airplay charts early last year, and his current single, the Kacey Musgraves duet “I Remember Everything,” which is just inside the Top 30.
