Riley Green was talking with Cody Alan of CMT when Alan mentioned an odd fact about Riley’s new album, “Not My Last Rodeo.”
“25% of the songs are mentioning the word ‘damn’ here…” Twelve songs on the album, three of them with ‘damn’ in the title: “Damn Country,” “Damn Good Day To Leave” and “Ain’t My Damn To Give.” Riley laughed and said “I shoulda just called it ‘My New Damn Album’.”
While country music has long had a comfortable relationship with the mild expletive, Riley admitted it’s not something he noticed until later.
“You don’t think about it til after the fact,” he said of all the ‘damns,’ adding that his mom might have an issue with the swearing. “She must not have seen the track list, because I haven’t heard yet.”
