Chris Stapleton has made many great drinking songs that others can relate to.

But Chris Stapleton is not a drinker, well not anymore.

Stapleton said in his 20s he got to drinking heavy and lost himself. He moved to Nashville when he was 23 and wanted to live the country singer lifestyle.

Now 45, Stapleton has been sober for many years.

“I like to tell people that I got into a drinking contest with myself in my 20s, and I lost,” the singer adds.

In Chris Stapleton’s upcoming album, Higher, has a song called ‘The Bottom,’ which talks about the thought process that comes with excessive drinking.
