The Great Smoky Mountains’ third-highest peak is the LeConte Lodge, and its origins lie with a young man named Paul Adams and his best friend, his dog, Cumberland Jack.
Colonel David Chapman with the Great Smoky Mountains Conservation Association saw an opportunity to keep the Smoky Mountains beautiful and not tear the trees down.
