On Saturday (June 10) the Lenior City community came together to do some cleanup.
City officials along with residents of Lenior City worked from 7AM to 2PM on 13 different areas in the community for cleanup.
Mayor of Lenior City, Tony Aikens, says he wants to keep their city clean and beautiful but also bring awareness to what litter actually does.
“(I) just wanted to bring attention to it again, and I just thought it was a good time to do it,” Aikens said. “Obviously, we wanted to wait until warmer weather to do it, and I thought it was a good time to do that. Our city’s a beautiful place,” he said. “It’s a good place to live, and we want it to have a good image for the people that drive through here and might consider making this their home. We want them to feel like it’s a place that’s valued. Hopefully, we can get more participation in events like this in the future,” said Mayor Aikens.
