ALS or “Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis” affects nerve cells in the brain and spine, which sadly causes a loss of motor function and lead to a worse path.

The month of May is ALS Awareness Month, but one organization is planning on bringing awareness to the disease earlier.

The FarmHouse Judy Memorial ALS Rodeo is set for Chilhowee Park and Exposition Center on April 28th and 29th. The purpose of this rodeo is raise awareness and raise funds to help research and support programs for families.

This rodeo features a family-friendly show that honors Judy Murray. Judy was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2021 and sadly lost her battle that December.

“We’re so excited to be the unofficial kickoff to ALS Awareness Month for East Tennessee while bringing a sport I’m passionate about to Knoxville,” rodeo organizer Kevin DeBusk said. “And we’re honored to partner with The ALS Association and FarmHouse Fraternity to bring awareness for this disease to the community while honoring my mother-in-law’s memory and Grabbing ALS by the Horns.”

The rodeo will include multiple events to watch, and food and business vendors as well.

Doors are set to open at 6:30pm, the rodeo starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are only $15 and can be purchased here.
