Hardin Valley Middle School students held their 2nd Annual American Heart Association Eclipse Ball Tournament.

So, what exactly is Eclipse Ball?

Eclipse Ball is a game that combines badminton and volleyball with minimal rules.

Teams are formed by grade. So, teams of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders formed March 9th to play the game.

“We just try to get them to do something fun to move because also what I’ve noticed is students that really get nervous about being in P.E., they absolutely love this game, and they were one of the first groups to sign up, people you never expect would want to play,” said Cathy Lyons, physical education teacher at Hardin Valley Middle School.

Cathy Lyons introduced the tournament last year to help raise money for the American Heart Association. It is special and important to Hardin Valley as many of them have family members who struggle with heart health.

Their goal was to raise $5,000.

Way to go Hardin Valley!
