Winter is nearly here – which means many Americans will struggle with depression and anxiety from Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD. Newsweek ran down a few ways to combat SAD without spending a dime: Go on a hike: The exercise can boost endorphins and reduce stress – and let you catch some much-needed sunshine. Meet up with friends: Resist the urge to isolate yourself from the world, and reach out for some social contact. Perform small acts of kindness: Volunteer at a charity, help a loved one with some chores – it can help raise your spirits and give you a sense of purpose.
