Every Christmas, since 1989, we’ve seen the iconic Hershey’s Kisses in a simple commercial where there are bells playing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” Well, 2020 has thrown another curve ball at us and this time it’s in the form of a new holiday commercial and people are having a melt down over it.
In the new version, the kisses start playing the song, then a little girl’s hand reaches and take sone. The shot moves tot the girl and her dad making Christmas cookies, peanut butter blossoms of course! The company has said their decision to update the famous commercial was to keep the opening holiday melodies but also incorporate another holiday tradition, baking.
That’s sweet that Hershey’s wanted to do that but the Internet is very salty over their new creative direction. Some comments in regards to the commercial were, “The perfect representation of 2020: completely ruined,” and another said “Hershey’s redoing their Christmas commercial is personally the last star of 2020 for me. I simply cannot go on without hearing the little Hershey kiss sigh after the performance of his lifetime”… dramatic much but honestly we understand.
